Armeno is a large municipality situated in the province of Novara. Idyllically set amidst the gentle hills which encircle Lake Orta, it is dominated by the impressive peak of Mount Mottarone.

Armeno's major historical and artistic beauty is the parish church of St. Maria Assunta, which was built over the remains of an ancient Roman temple dating back to 1110. Note the ornaments of the outer columns and the inner pillars, which depict heads and animals, and the precious inner frescos and paintings. Another sacred building worthy of mention is the oratory of St. Maria, situated in the lovely hamlet of Luciago, a small church characterized by a trabeated nave and a nave covered by a barrel vault.
Excursionists won't miss the opportunity to visit the nearby hamlet of Coiromonte. The large square situated in front of the church boasts breathtaking views over the lake and the surrounding peaks.
