Arese is situated 15 kilometres north west of Milan and is famous all over the world as the seat of the largest Alfa Romeo establishment in the world. Part of Arese's territory is included in the Park of Groane.

The XIX-century Parish Church of St. Pietro and Paolo cherishes a precious organ and a beautiful altar, the latter being embellished by colourful marbles. Its presbytery hosts two interesting frescoes by Grandi. Totally restored and inaugurated in 1999, the historical Sundial which is painted on the famous Torrazza overlooking Piazza Santi Pietro e Paolo is one of the city's most representative landmarks. Arese's oldest church, the Church of St. Bernardino, was subsequently restored according to the canons of the Baroque style, and is therefore embellished by sumptuous decorations. However, it still retains the traditional intimacy which was typical of Milan's small oratories, and its interior cherishes two important paintings which were probably realized between the XVI and the XVII century.
