Alliste, a small municipality of the province of Lecce, is situated on the western edge of the Salentine Peninsula.
The city centre, which stands few kilometres far from the Ionian Sea, develops just in the heart of a large valley which extends halfway between the rocky eastern hills and the so-called "Serre" coastal dunes.

The local hotels gather a wide range of accommodation options, such as splendid suites, comfortable bedrooms and intimate bungalows, and are also served by free shuttle buses which run from and to the Ionian Coast. Alliste's guest houses are situated few metres far from the compelling beaches of the surrounding area, and are provided with special agreements with the nearby bathing establishments. The local b&bs, which are surrounded by ancient olive groves overlooking the crystal-clear sea, are the ideal accommodation facilities for those interested in spending pleasant holidays here.

The surrounding area is peppered with plenty of impressive prehistoric monuments. The top of the hill which dominates the town is occupied by the so-called Specchia dell’Alto and Sciupanno, impressive heaps of megalithic stones which were once used as tombs or sighting posts.
One of the city's most representative sacred building is the Church of St. Quintino, which was built in 1455 to celebrate the patron saint. This majestic building, which is situated a short distance from the old town, boasts a monumental facade surmounted by a beautiful pediment and three entrance gates.
3 kilometres far from Alliste, in the small hamlet of Felline, is the XVI-century  Church dedicated to St. Leucio Martire. This sumptuous Baroque building boasts a wonderful Renaissance portal which is embellished by two impressive stone columns and a beautiful high altar which was largely built of polychromatic marble from Carrara.
Felline is also home to the Castle of Bonsecolo, a wonderful example of the typical medieval art of the XII century. This rectangular structure gathers two square-shaped and two circular-shaped towers, and a large balcony erected by a robust bracket.
