The province of Sondrio, which is the northernmost in Lombardy, develops across a lush territory crossed by wide valleys, such as Valtellina, Valmalenco and Valchiavenna, and dominated by impressive mountain ranges which mark the watershed between Switzerland and the Lombard provinces.
