Like many other regional provinces, the new Lombard province of Monza and Brianza develops across a fertile territory crossed by numerous waterways, both small and large lakes and fascinating marshes. The area surrounding the Lakes of Brianza cherishes charming unspoilt spots, the ideal holiday destinations for the lovers of nature and relax.

The whole province of Monza and Brianza is crossed by the river Lambro, which also crosses part of the provincial territory of Como and Milan and flows through Monza's city centre, the latter being a lively provincial capital which attracts large numbers of tourists.

The river Lambro is flanked by one of the largest and most flourishing natural parks of the peninsula, the Regional Park of the Lambro Valley, which includes the municipalities of Albiate, Arcore, Carate Brianza, Villasanta and further picturesque centres. The southern area of the park is included in the Park of Monza, the so-called green lung of the city.

This naturalistic oasis is home to Monza's National Circuit, which every year in September hosts the Italian stage of the Grand Prix of Formula 1, as well as plenty of further exciting car and motorcycle competitions. The park also hosts a golf course, and is the traditional venue for numerous sporting and cultural events which attract large numbers of young people.
