Italia in Miniatura, theme park Rimini, theme park Riviera Romagnola
Italia in Miniatura is one of the most beautiful theme parks in the Riviera Romagnola and one of the most original funfairs in Italy. Situated in Viserba, few kilometres far from Rimini, Italia in Miniatura offers visitors a wide range of attractions, as well as perfect scale reproductions of some of the most important monuments and historic-artistic sites Italy cherishes. Situated in a 85.000-square-metre-large boot-shaped area, 270 miniatures reproduce some Italian architectural wonders on a 1:25/50 scale.
The building of Italia in Miniatura came to an end in July 1970, when the park was inaugurated with 50 miniatures which were able to catch the attention of visitors from all over the world.
The care and ability employed to manufacture the miniatures originated from a rigorous project,
according to which each reproduction had to acquire the same colours, shapes and signs of wear of the original one.
Walking down the paths of Italia in Miniatura, visitors can admire wonderful works of art which were realized by skilled craftsmen with the help of state-of-the-art technologies.
Not to be missed are the outstanding St. Peter's Basilica, which is reproduced in such a way which does not affect its original magnificence, the Trevi Fountain, which was celebrated by Fellini, Milan's Cathedral, an outstanding example of Gothic architecture, Piazza del Plebiscito and the charming buildings surrounding it in Naples, Genoa's harbour, the monumental Arena of Verona, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, the nuraghic complex of Barumini in Sardinia, the Alps and some of the most beautiful transalpine monuments.
Venice and its Grand Canal are identical to the original ones although reproduced on a 1:5 scale. The reproductions can be admired sailing along the canals by means of a boat which allows visitors to explore every single spot. Built in 1992 , miniature Venice is made up of 119 buildings whose construction required 9 years.
Miniature Italy and Miniature Europe, the first attractions which were included in the theme park of
Viserba di Rimini, have recently been integrated with other attractions, such as the Science Fair, Pinocchio, the Interactive driving school and the Little prehistoric valley, which feature different patterns but are all aimed at entertaining people while teaching them essential rudiments.
The lovers of fun can enjoy the Canoe water ride, the giant mechanical slingshot Sliding Shot, which shoots the capsules to a height of 55 metres in less than 2 seconds, Cannonacqua and many more. To visit Italia in Miniatura, it is advisable to take the Monorail, the first to be built in Europe, which crosses the park giving people the possibility to admire it from above. Even the 10-metre-high Panoramic Tower offers an outstandig view over the park and its neighbourhoods.
Not to be missed are the shows and events which liven up the park and are often cheered by Emme, the funny mascot of the park, which offer both adults and children utmost entertainment.
It is advisable to stay at Italia in Miniatura all day long, to have the possibility to enjoy relax in the numerous green areas which surround the park or to take advantage of the numerous refreshment booths and pic-nic areas to have a snack before experiencing the most challenging attractions. The original shops situated here are the ideal places to buy souvenirs, local products and curious items.
